You Can't One-Click Good Health on Amazon Prime
People ask me all the time if there is a website that they can pop on to buy some of these shakes I rattle on about.
The answer is that nutritional cleansing is so much more than just shakes. The shakes just happen to be the tastiest and most convenient part of the system, so naturally when I feel like I am eating a Wendy’s Frosty for breakfast every morning I am going to brag about it. Who wants stinky eggs when you can have a Frosty? (If you know me, you know that brunch is my least favorite meal because eggs make me gag and usually everything else on a brunch menu is carby and sugary. I just go for the mimosas. But I digress.)

Two years ago I was a hard-working 20-something in New York City. I logged long hours at the office, traveled for work every couple of weeks, booked networking engagements and happy hours throughout the week, and studied a Master’s degree in my spare time. Ha, like I had much of that. I wanted more than anything to live a healthier lifestyle because I was literally EXHAUSTED all the time; I was late for work almost every day because I snoozed my alarm for nearly an hour. I also was busting my booty in the gym with a personal trainer 6 days per week but not having the results I wanted with my body. I felt stronger, but I knew that because of some emotional trauma I had been through, my body was just holding on to a layer of fat.
I ate healthily about 70% of the time, but I also ate a lot of take-out, airport food, and corner store sandwiches because I didn’t have the time or the energy to plan ahead.
Because honestly. Who freaking has the TIME to be healthy? All the science these days is talking about 5-6 meals per day and fresh, organic produce … and it works! But even if I could grudgingly carve out a few hours on one of those blessed slow Sunday afternoons to hit all the farmer’s markets and prep food, I would have to carry a bajillion little Tupperwares around with me every day. I would be like a bag lady at every after-work function and be toting around a mini pantry on the subway every day. Even then, my prep work lasted me only two, maybe three days before I had to go pick up more fresh veggies and find a way to fit in a mid-week meal prep.
If all the stars aligned and I was able to make this happen for a couple weeks, I felt good… but never great. And I always knew it was short-lived. All that effort is seriously exhausting and completely unsustainable if you don’t have a personal chef or if you have any semblance of a life outside of “being healthy”.
So I got desperate. When I found nutritional cleansing, I honestly thought I was getting some shakes and a deep cleanse twice per month, but what I ACTUALLY got was a solution to this never-ending problem. I don’t have to miss a meal because I don’t have time. In fact, I have eaten the grand majority of my meals this week in the car darting from one appointment to the next.
But the ENERGY. And the CLARITY. And the EMPOWERMENT. And the COMMUNITY.
Those are things that aren’t listed in the ingredients list of any protein shake, but those are certainly the biggest things that I gained by stepping into this lifestyle change.
